There is a social media profile going around local mummy WhatsApp and Telegram groups. It belongs to a 40-year-old single mother from the Philippines working here as an foreign domestic worker (FDW). Her IG account, @filipinahelperinsingapore, has nearly 60,000 followers and 466 posts, alongside 1,900 followers on Facebook.
Based on a selfie taken in a public restroom, she arrived recently. She noted that October 16 was only her third off day.
Posts Seeking a Partner
The screenshots shared among parents focus on her looking for a partner. In one image, she wears a spaghetti strap top with the text: "Niloko ka ba ng dalaga? Baka panahon na sa single mom ka talaga nakatadhana" (Were you fooled by a young woman? Maybe it is time that you are truly destined for a single mom).
Another screenshot shows her in a short pink dress with the caption: "Nagmahal ka na ba ng single mom na loyal?" (Have you ever loved a loyal single mom?).
In a third post, she is in a low-cut pink dress playing with turtles, writing: "Lalaking mapag mahal taga saan ka?" (A loving man, where are you from?).
Reaching Out to an English-Speaking Audience
Some parents thought she was just looking for a partner from her home country. Others pointed out she has videos targeting an English-speaking audience. Her English posts include direct text like "I am looking for my future husband. I am 40yo single mom working as domestic helper here," "To my future husband I am just here waiting," and "Single mom waiting for you."
Why Parents Are Forwarding the Account
Many parents feel alarmed by this account. Mummies understand that what an FDW does on her own time is her personal decision. Still, the profile is being forwarded as a warning to other parents who employ helpers. Bringing a helper into our homes means trusting them with our family's privacy. Seeing a highly public account dedicated to finding what might be a local husband raises concerns about boundaries.
